Ashutosh Gowariker’s film’s master print stolen

Hours before the release of his new film “What’s Your Raashee” Director Ashutosh Gowariker is trying to understand how the master print of his film was purportedly stolen and pirated from a laboratory.

“I’ve been travelling to Toronto and then to Ahmedabad, so I’m not aware of the full situation. However, it’s a scary thought that films have been going out for piracy from the lab,” Gowariker said.

UTV, which has co-produced “What’s Your Raashee” with Ashutosh Gowariker Productions Pvt Ltd, has slapped a legal notice of Rs.50crore each on Adlabs and UFO Moviez for allegedly helping the theft of the master print.

UTV suspected that the master print went missing days before the movie’s scheduled release September 25.

The business development manager of Adlabs Processing, Durgadas Bhakta, was arrested in Mumbai for supposedly stealing and selling the master print. Bhakta allegedly sold it for Rs.2lakh to movie pirates.

“I’m glad they were caught out when my film was smuggled out. We don’t know the extent of the damage. I can only be thankful my master print was recovered. But we don’t know how many copies were made,” said the director.

Choosing to see the lighter side of the harsh situation, Gowariker said, “I hope the pirates didn’t cut the film. I don’t want them to watch an in-complete film.”

The film stars Priyanka Chopra and Hurman Baweja in the lead roles.

Ghajini Actress Asin is Hospitalised

Actress Asin Thottumkal, who was lately been working round-the-clock, has been admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital following an acute sinus condition.

The Ghajini fame actress was admitted on Monday morning. She was taken to Kokilaben hospital because it’s close to her home in Andheri.

Though the actress herself was unavailable for any comments, her father, who was with her in the hospital, said “Yes she’s in hospital. Nothing to worry about. All this is part of the process of my daughter’s growing up.”

Asin is expected to be out after cure in a couple of days. Some said she was admitted after suffering from acute exhaustion.

“Asin was admitted to the Dhirubhai hospital… not for exhaustion but an acute sinus condition. She had been neglecting the condition for quite some time now. But now the sinus situation had to be attended to. But she was in great spirits, her usual chirpy and friendly self singing even as her treatment was being done,” said a source close to Asin.

Her condition got aggravated because of the night shooting for London Dreams.

“She had no choice but to get into the hospital to have the condition treated. She waited until Eid when there was break from work,” said the source.

Hundred Crore deal for “My Name Is Khan”

The marketing and distribution rights for King Khan stared “My Name Is Khan” has been bought by Fox Star Studios for a massive Rs.100Crore.

This is the biggest deal ever for a Bollywood exceeding Rs.90Crore for Aamir Khan stared “Ghajini” and Rs.70Crore for “Om Shanti Om”.

The film is being co-produced by Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan with a budget of Rs.55Crore.

The movie is about the 9/11 terror attacks and its impact on an Indian Muslim living in the US.

My Name is Khan is being touted as the most awaited releases of the year. Shahrukh Khan and Kajol will return to the screen together after a gap of 8 long years.

They were last seen together in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham in 2001. Film analysts are banking on the fact that it was the trio of Shahrukh, Kajol and director Karan Johar which had delivered the superhit Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

This deal will serve as a personal happiness for Shahrukh has not only has his movie bagged a huge deal it has outdated the previous one held by Aamir Khan.

It may be recalled that Shahrukh’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Aamir’s Ghajini has clashed at the box office last year. On that occasion Aamir had emerged as the clear winner.

Dev & Freida were found to be Cuddling

Dev Patel and Freida Pinto of Slumdog Millionaire eminence are in love, Patel’s mother has confirmed.

The pair, who became fame with Danny Boyle’s Mumbai based pot-boiler earlier denied romance rumours but they were recently photographed cuddling up in Israel where the Indian actress is shooting for her upcoming film Miral.

“First it was the film and now everything else seems to have fitted into place. Life can’t get any better for him. Freida is really beautiful and I am really happy for them. Yes, we knew he was flying to Israel to see her,” said Dev’s mother Anita Patel.

Dev, 19 and Freida, 24, are said to have started a relationship on the sets of Slumdog Millionaire and they became increasingly close while travelling the world together to promote the film.

Romance rumours first started gaining weight after Slumdog Millionaire co-star actor Anil Kapoor said the young lovers had a “magical chemistry”.

Freida had neglected her fiancé, public relations executive Rohan Antao, earlier this year.
