Actor Ajith Kumar’s house in Valmiki Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, was packed police security on Friday morning, coming across the news that his house would be under attack. The security was also provided outside a marriage hall belonging to actor Rajinikanth located in Kodambakkam.

This fear came after few people, stating to be fans of Ajith, damaged a vehicle possessed by stunt director Jaaguvaar Thangam.

A rare sports utility vehicle, parked outside Mr. Thangam’s house in MGR Nagar, was damaged in the early hours of Thursday.

He was at a shooting in Madurai at that time of attacking. Later on he met the Commissioner of Police and filed a complaint.

The stunt director who had an interview with a Tamil magazine disapproved of a remark that Ajith had made at a function, in which Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi took part, that actors were being forced to participate in political and social events. Rajinikanth had also supported him for speaking a right thing.

Mr. Thangam, the State youth wing leader of the Nadar Peravai, claimed that Ajith was behind the attack.

On Friday evening, two unknown men who came on a motorcycle entered into Mr. Thangam’s residence, threw stones at his wife Shanti and escaped. She was injured on her head and hand and was taken to a private hospital.

Boyle kept to a promise to mention the club, where his father Frank is a regular, if he won the Oscar.

He said he took his Golden Globe and Bafta prizes to the club a few weeks ago.

“the first thing anyone said to me here was, ‘How did someone like you win a Bafta?’ and that’s exactly the sort of thing you need saying”, he said.

“They are very proud and it’s a lovely environment”.

Boyle said he drank lemonade at the club when he was a child. His father used to run the club.

“He used to get up and sing, ‘Oh Danny Boyle’, which was pretty embarrassing when you’re 11 year old”, he said.

Boyle said music was one of his biggest influences. He said Burry band elbow, which is also being considered for a Freeman honour, was among his favourites.

Albert Waters, chairman of St Mary’s Social Club, said: “I think it’s superb.

“He’s done something no one else around here has ever done.
